The India Poker Series (IPS) Chapter 13 took place from 11 April – 15 April 2012. After the initial 2 days of satellites, it was time to get down to business.

The first event of the weekend was the INR 10,000 Double Chance Freezeout. 26 players entered, and it was Anil ‘The Machine’ Gulati taking on Bharat ‘Silent Assassin’ Agarwalla in heads up play to determine the winner. In the last hand, the shorter stacked Gulati moved all in from the button and got called by Agarwalla. Gulati was trailing way behind with his against Agarwalla’s . The board ran dry and thus ended The Machine’s deep run in the 10k Double Chance. Agarwalla added a sum of INR 125,000 to his bankroll for outlasting the competition.

The featured tournament for the weekend was the INR 25,000 Main Event (With Re-entries). It kick started with 13 players and in the end it was the previous night’s runner up Anil ‘The Machine’ Gulati taking on Goa tournament regular Husain Lakda in heads up action. At the end, it was The Machine who triumphed and took home INR 200,000 for outplaying the other contenders.

The last event of the weekend was the INR 5,000 Re-Entry Tournament. It attracted a field of 16 players and in heads up action it was Michael D’Souza against Vineet Bailur, who had come to the final table in 1st and 2nd chip position respectively. In the last hand of their heads up duel, Bailur moved all in with against D’Souza’s . The board busted Bailur’s draws and D’Souza went home INR 65,000 richer for winning the 5k Re-Entry Tournament.

The IPS is proving to be extremely profitable for Anil Gulati. He’s had a dry spell of late and has always found himself a case of ‘so close, but yet so far.’ This dry run has ended and how! He has taken down the Main Events at both IPS Chapters 12 and 13 and has made other notable finishes, having cashed for a total of more than INR 450,000.
The next Chapter of the IPS will take place from 02-06 May at Casino Royale.
