An augment is an item modification and can be applied to an augment slot. Augments can be crafted by the Armormech, Armstech, and SynthweavingCrew Skills.

• Augments, stims, and legacy buffs are all ignored by bolster. That being said, there's no reason not to be fully augmented, it's the first thing to spend money on. I suggest augmenting legacy shells, so you can always share your best in slot gear between duplicates and mirror characters or character that don't have any gear.
• To add an augment slot to an item, from patch 1.3 onwards, you will use the Item Modification Table, which are most easily found on the fleet stations. The item must be green level or higher. (Why would you try to improve a gray item anyway?) To add an augment slot to the item, you have to spend credits and use an augmentation kit.
