Japanese Restaurant Jupiters Casino Gold Coast

Gold Coast’s Jupiters is in the midst of a $345 million dollar refurbishment, aimed at completely revitalising the impressive building from the endearingly simple pool area to the in-house dining scene. I was kindly flown up there to check out the two starry restaurants that have opened due to the transformation, the first of which. Kiyomi is housed within Jupiters Casino on Gold Coast's Broadbeach. If the Blackjack table is unkind to you, at least you know that you can score a jackpot here in terms of top quality food. To go with good food, you need good drinks and in this regard, Kiyomi really delivers.

Jupiters Hotel & Casino launched its new Japanese restaurant and bar, Kiyomi, Wednesday evening with a star-studded celebrity and media cocktail event.

Hosted by Jupiters' Managing Director Queensland Geoff Hogg and internationally renowned Restaurant Executive Chef Chase Kojima, attendees celebrated the event with a traditional sake barrel ceremony, signifying harmony and good fortune.

Geoff Hogg says that the launch of Kiyomi signifies an important step in Jupiters’ transformation into a world-class integrated resort. “We can now offer our guests and visitors dining to the standard found at globally recognised high-end integrated resorts at Las Vegas or Macau, while at the same time providing a unique Gold Coast experience.'

Executive Chef of the new restaurant, Chase Kojima, says he was excited to give celebrities and media a taste of what visitors could expect from his second Australian restaurant. “I’ve been amazed by the quality of produce here in Queensland and it has inspired me to design a menu that is not only modern Japanese but with the flavours of the Gold Coast and Queensland infused throughout.'
Paul Bullpitt and Blair Tonkin
Celebrity attendees of the evening included Pamela Stephenson Connolly, The Veronicas (Lisa and Jess Origliasso), Ricki Lee Coulter, Pete Murray, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Adam Liaw, Liz Cantor, Magdalena Roze and Paul and Blair from 'My Kitchen Rules'.

Treated to a selection of delicious tasting plates, guests indulged in scallop, yuzu honey, scorched corn and mache; hiramasu kingfish, miso ceviche, crispy potato and lime; and a ‘Goma Street’ dessert - tempered dark chocolate, caramelised white chocolate mousse and black sesame ice cream.

Open to the public just in time for Christmas, Kiyomi is the first restaurant to be launched as part of the property’s $345 million transformation – which includes a new poolside experience with private bungalows, cabanas, and a poolside bar, a new Italian restaurant, Cucina Vivo, which will also open this Summer, and a new six-star luxury hotel tower and an array of contemporary restaurants and bars.

Japanese Restaurant Jupiter's Casino Gold Coastt Australia

Kiyomi opened in December 2014 as part of the $345 million transformation of Jupiters Hotel and Casino on the Gold Coast, Australia. The 120 seat cutting-edge Japanese restaurant and bar was designed by award winning architecture and interior design firm Luchetti Krelle in partnership with Steelman Partners.

Brintons worked together with Luchetti Krelle to develop a striking custom designed Axminster carpet, taking a traditional gingko leaf design and evolving it into a striking, graphic pattern. The contemporary copper and bronze base adds to the overall warmth of the interior and provides a restrained contrast to the venue’s standout feature - a bespoke fluorescent art installation by Japanese street artist Houxo Que which sits prominently at the end of the restaurant.

The venue successfully respects Japanese design principles, layering cultural cues inspired by traditional motifs, with a contemporary twist. It is no surprise that the project was shortlisted in the International Restaurant and Bar Design Awards 2015, London in the International Category for Best Australian and Pacific Restaurant.

We were very happy with our collaboration with Brintons on Kiyomi, a Japanese restaurant on the Gold Coast. Brintons were involved from early concept, giving us the technical advice on how to bring our graphic vision to life. Brintons provided graphic layouts, as well as a physical hand trial, which made the review and approvals process very easy. To adhere to Japanese design principles, we used a restrained palette. The Ginko leaf motif was evolved with Brintons to achieve a little flair and more contemporary feel. We feel the end result added another level and texture to a narrow space
