October 6, 2020 – Gateway Casinos & Entertainment (Gateway) is pleased to announce that it will re-open select properties in Ontario as part of the province’s Stage 3 guidelines. Beginning on Thursday, October 8, locations in Woodstock, Clinton and Hanover will re-open and all other Gateway locations – except for Casino Rama Resort – will re-open on Saturday, October 10. Under this framework, all properties will be restricted to the government mandated maximum of 50 guests, and will only include slot machines. Table games will not be operational and non-gaming amenities will be very limited.
At opening and in the coming days, we will be operating with a reservation and invitation system for our customers only. Due to the 50-customer capacity restrictions, properties will be open to invited My Club Rewards members only. Invited members will be notified by email with details on how to make reservations.
“We are excited to be able to re-open our Ontario properties and welcome back some of our team members and customers. The health and well-being of our employees and guests is our top priority,” said Tony Santo, CEO at Gateway Casinos. “We look forward to fully re-opening and welcoming more of our guests back in the future as capacities are increased and restrictions are lifted.”
Maintaining a clean environment is a year-round priority and it is regular practice to clean all hard surfaces, such as door handles and tables. Under the current environment, Gateway is being hyper-vigilant in our cleaning protocols throughout our properties to prevent the spread of transmittable illnesses, including COVID-19.
Gateway has implemented a new reservation and virtual queue system that will allow guests to book their play time online, check-in upon arrival and safely wait in their vehicles until we are ready for their entry. “This system will allow our staff to properly prepare the gaming floor for our guests, and ensure there is no congestion at the entrance as they wait to enter,” said Santo. “Things may look and feel a little different around the property, but we remain committed to making your visit enjoyable.”

Kewadin Casino, Hotel and Convention Center is a casino, hotel, and convention center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan which opened in November 1985. It is one of the Kewadin Casinos, which are all owned and operated by the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.[1][2][3][4]
History[edit]
The Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians Board of Directors approved the opening of a casino in 1984.[1][3] The Kewadin Casino, Hotel and Convention Center opened in November 1985, originally as a one-room blackjack house.[3][4][5]
Sault Ste Marie Casino Entertainment
The facility was expanded in 1988, 1992,[5] 1993, 1994, 1997, and 2004.[3]
In June 2011, an anonymous tip led to the arrest of two Oklahoma residents by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Police after being observed by casino security personnel of using a device to manipulating gaming machines into paying larger payouts.[6] A subsequent investigation by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed that six individuals had been working together and traveled to the casino on 52 weekends between June 2009 and June 2011 stealing approximately $310,000 from the casino.[6] In October 2013, the six each pleaded guilty to a count of conspiracy to commit theft from a gaming establishment on Indian lands.[6] They were each sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert Holmes Bell on March 1, 2014.[6]
Features[edit]
Kewadin Casino, Hotel and Convention Center includes a casino gaming space, a 320-room hotel, and a 25,000 square feet (2,300 m2) convention center.[3] The facility also includes 3,272 square feet (304.0 m2) of kitchen space and a 12,019 square feet (1,116.6 m2) restaurant which serves over 400,000 people per year.[7] The facility's Dreamcatchers restaurant includes keno gaming.[8]
